Too Depressed To Blog

Here's a picture taken several years ago at a work fund raiser. It was an Hawaiian theme. The dog vests have a reflective tape on it that ruins a lot of pics.

Doing the Backstroke

This is Jett doing the backstroke! Both our labs love to go belly up and play with their toys, each other, us, or just kick it. At our house, we're busy watching the second season of Dexter on DVD. It just came out at Blockbusters this week. I don't have much to say today. I was emailing my cousin today and realized that I have absolutely nothing to tell her because rather than work, nothing is going on. It made me kinda depressed. However, I am too tired to do anything about it.

Sometimes a girl just needs her Teddy Bear

This is a picture of Tank and her Teddy Bear. I love this picture. Today, Mel came to work to help my activities group make hand sewn journals. The young people did a great job. They weren't so sure about Mel making them do math though. I thought that was funny.

Dog Wine

This is a picture of the bottles of wine that we sold this year at our fundraiser. We sold tons of wine! Not much happening in my life right now. I feel like I work ALL THE TIME! We had some real hot weather so Jenn and I holed up all weekend and spent our time watching the entire first season of LOST. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_(TV_series) I give Lost two paws up. I am hoping that the series doesn't go downhill from here. I also watched Charlie Bartlett. http://charliebartlett-themovie.com/ It was cute. I'd give it two paws up. Teenagers love this movie. I think it was done by the same people who did Juno. Loved Juno.

More Movie Reviews

Jenn and I watched "The Brave One" with Jodie Foster. Jodie Foster is a favorite in our house. http://thebraveone.warnerbros.com/ This was a different kind of movie that I would not have expected Jodie to be in. We really only watched it because she was in it. I give it 1/2 paws up. She was wonderful in it but the story line just wasn't our thing. I also don't watch movies where the dog dies. The dog doesn't but it had me worried for a while.Today I watched War of the Worlds II - The Next Wave. I wanted to watch it because I love the other War of the World movies. This one was done by C. Thomas Howell. I like the one with him in it way better than Tom Cruise because I think Tom Cruise is a bigot. But, alas... this get's the one eyed labrador rating. On a funny note, when they were in the alien, it looked like they were walking through a big vagina and I found that amusing. The ratings on this were awful. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1183733/In DBTteen that I cofaciliate at work, we often talk about the movie "Mean Girls". So, I finally had the chance to watch it. http://www.meangirls.com/indexflash.html I like Lindsey Lohan. I really hope she stops hanging out with the Hilton Hos and becomes a real person again as I have enjoyed a lot of the movies that she is in. I loved Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis. Jamie is also another big fav in our home. Mean Girls gets a paw up. And perhaps a bit of a tail wag because I just liked it.

Dogster

So, once again, walking in the shadow of Bookworm, I have found something cool. My pups now have their own pages on Dogster http://www.dogster.com/ . Jett's page is http://www.dogster.com/dogs/844548 . Tank's page is http://www.dogster.com/dogs/844560 . I'll prolly do one later for my late best precious pal, Rootbeer.

Olympic Mascots

These are the Olympic Mascots this year. They are supposed to be a fish, antelope, panda, swallow and the Olympic Flame. In the 1984 Olympics, the mascot was Sam the Bald Eagle. He was awesome. I did a portrait on him in watercolor on the back patio of my parents home that year. He eventually faded enough that I scrubbed him out. I usually love mascots. When we had the Portland Fire (women's professional basketball team), the mascot was Spot. My jersey for the Fire had Spot's name and number on it. He was very cool and I hated to see him and the team go. Maybe I'm just not as used to the Chinese style of mascots. There is a good description of them and the meanings/intention of them here http://en.beijing2008.cn/spirit/beijing2008/graphic/n214068254.shtml . When I did research to make sure that the Summer Olympics really did happen in 1984, I found out that it was the first year that China participated since 1932. Interesting. Our house missed the grand entry this year. We have watched some horse stuff, women's soccer, men's gymnastics and women's beach volleyball. I prefer regular volleyball, but who can resist the cute little uniforms??

Camp Pupp is Closed for the Season

This is a picture of my fav animal at the Oregon Zoo.
Well, CampPupp is closed for the season. The boys went home with their mother yesterday. After three weeks, including one week of camping, the silence in my life and home is heavenly. I love the boys, but I'm not used to this parenthood stuff. Camping went great. We spent seven days and nights at it. The boys shared a tent and Jenn and I and the lab duo shared the rv. I had two tents but the boys fought so much the first day of camping that I felt they needed more practice being together. Besides, the other tent is a booger to put up. We went letterboxing, boating, swimming, fishing, etc. A boat was rented. It was a very nice, and unexpected treat. Thank you Maiden. We went into town several days and played at a new park that was built. One day we took pizza to the park and stayed several hours. I enjoyed sitting by the campfire and then sleeping in the next morning. Jenn and I enjoyed being together in the little rv with the dogs at night. I would read and Jenn would knit while we hung out. My dogs went to bed very early every evening. When we got home, we all fell down in front of the tv and didn't move! We rented movies and watched tv for 24 hours before even trying to move. The Bee Movie is fun. http://www.beemovie.com/ I give it a paws up. Nim's Island is awesome. http://www.nimsisland.com/ We loved it. Gotta love Jody Foster. Two paws up. Jenn and I are now in the middle of watching the first season of Dexter. http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/home.do We love Michael C. Hall in our house. We loved him in Six Feet Under as well. http://www.hbo.com/sixfeetunder/ Six Feet Under did the best series finale ever. It was hard to say goodbye to that show. The other show that was hard for us to say goodbye to was Queer as Folk. http://www.sho.com/site/queer/home.do Both Six Feet Under and Queer as Folk get two paws up, a tail wag and some doggie drool. I can't think of anything higher unless I add in a mangled slobbery tennis ball :)
